Looking Back at Construction in 2022

As we near the end of 2022, we are reflecting on what has been a remarkable year for the SIMIAN team and the construction industry as a whole.

Having overcome the challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic brought throughout 2020 and 2021, this year marked a return to our new normality.

So what has 2022 held for the construction industry? We take a look back below…

January

The beginning of 2022 saw SIMIAN adopt innovative new technologies to push the conventional boundaries of construction training, when immersive training came to LASC. Read more here.

February

February saw the announcement of a brand new app that would bring together 38 card schemes that display the CSCS logo to make card checking procedures on construction sites more efficient. Find out more here. 

March

Great news for SIMIAN came in March as no less than three of our clients completed their RISQS renewal with the support of our team. Read more here.

April

A ruling in April served as a reminder of the crucial importance of scaffolding safety as a firm was fined £530k following a 2019 incident that left a worker with life changing injuries. Learn more here. 

May

The SIMIAN team grew in April as we welcomed Matt Luetchford as Business Development Manager. You can find out more about Matt here.

June

It has been great to attend events once again following COVID and June saw MD, Simon, attend the Health and Safety Expo in London to present and discuss SG4:22 preventing Falls in Scaffolding Operations to delegates. Read more here.

July

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) published its annual workplace fatality figures in July for the 2021-22 period, and saw falls from height once again lead in the most common cause of fatal injuries in the workplace. Find out more here.

August

Another new team member joined us in August as we welcomed Curriculum Area Manager, John Lockley to SIMIAN.

September

We have played host to many events this year across our training centres and September was no difference as our Warrington centre welcomed year 12 students from Warrington University and Technical College for a school engagement day.

In October we reflected on how virtual reality has transformed construction training in recent years and how much it benefits SIMIAN’s training delegates. Learn more here.

Of course, we’ve only just scratched the surface on what has been a tremendous year for SIMIAN. As we prepare for the festive season, we are busily planning for what is certain to be an equally amazing 2023. With lots of exciting things on the horizon we can’t wait to see what the New Year will bring!
