TWF Produces New Scaffolding Guidance

27th October 2020

The Temporary Works Forum (TWF) is a not-for-profit construction industry body that aims to give guidance and professional leadership to the construction industry on all matters relating to temporary works.

Temporary Works Forum COVID-19 guidance

The forum has recently added to what is already a large list of industry guidance, in the form of a document titled, ‘Effective Management of Scaffolding to BS 5975: 2019’. The 26-page document can bee freely downloaded from TWF’s website and is intended to be supplementary to other guidance such as NASC’s TG20:13, produced by The National Access and Scaffolding Confederation.

TWF’s guidance provides recommendations on how temporary works (which include scaffolding) should be managed to comply with legislative requirements and and industry standards, in the context of BS5975. Whilst compliance with BS5975 is not a statutory requirement per se, adherence to the recommendations therein will very often ensure that management practices meet the minimum standards set out in legislation, such as the Work at Height Regulations 2005 and the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.

Organisations or individuals requiring advice on any matter relating to scaffolding safety are welcome to contact us via hello@simian-risk.com or on 0345 6022 418.
