Simon cycles from Land’s End to John O’Groats

3rd April 2019

SIMIAN MD, Simon Hughes, is currently gearing up to take on one of the most renowned cycling challenges out there, as he will be cycling 1,000 miles between Land’s End and John O’Groats.

This 10-day journey will take Simon and his fellow cyclists through some of the most beautiful parts of the UK, through towns and villages, ascending some of the highest roads and passing some of the UK’s most famous areas of natural beauty.

Simon's cycling challenge

An avid cyclist and nicknamed Capten Araf (Captain Slow, in Welsh!) by his team mates, Simon is no stranger to this kind of challenge, just last year he cycled 600 miles around the picturesque surroundings of Majorca with his team at Graham Weigh Racing.

Sadly, following last year’s trek, one of Simon’s team mates, Gareth Roberts, passed away from an undiagnosed heart condition. In memory of Gareth, Simon will be tackling this new challenge and raising money to support the charity ‘Cardiac Risk in the Young’.

With 12 young people sadly dying from undiagnosed cardiac conditions each week, Cardiac Risk in the Young aims to reduce this figure by working alongside cardiologists and GPs in order to establish screening facilities, as well as raising the profile of cardiac health in young people.

Simon will start his journey on 24th May of this year, and hopes to raise £1,000 for this wonderful charity. If you would like to donate to this great cause, and show your support to Simon as he tackles this massive challenge, please visit his JustGiving page.

Of course, we think he’s stark raving mad, but we’re sure you’ll join us in wishing him good luck for his trip!
