Simian Updates Advice to Customers
2nd June 2020
Further to this blog, which we posted back in April, and subsequent amendments to third-party guidance on undertaking construction activities during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have now updated our clients’ scaffolding documentation pack.
The pack includes the following documents:
- A health screening questionnaire
- A rescue pack checklist
- A rescue procedure
- A COVID-19 risk assessment for scaffolding activity
- A Scaffolders’ guidance document
The pack is intended to answer the typical questions faced by a scaffolding contractor operating during the pandemic, and it has been reviewed to incorporate the recommendations of the Construction Leadership Council’s Site Operating Procedures (V4).
Dave Burrows, SIMIAN’s Senior Consultant and co-author of the pack said:
“We’re very keen to ensure that the advice we offer our scaffolding clients matches the latest Government guidance. Since the first day of the lockdown, we have endeavoured to meet guidance provided by the Government and as a result, this means we have been regularly reviewing the sector-specific guidance and assistance we offer to clients.
CLC’s Site Operating Procedures provide some good generic advice, but some of our clients have queried how this should be interpreted in a scaffolding application, and we believe the guidance and documents we have produced provide a practical solution in terms of keeping scaffolding workers as safe as they can be, as the industry slowly returns to work.
