Simian to Talk at NWCSG March Meeting

20th February 2020

We’re delighted to have been asked to present to the UK’s largest voluntary construction safety group! The North West Construction Safety Group (NWCSG) is also perhaps the UK’s longest-established construction safety group and has its base in Manchester.

NWCSG March Meeting

Boasting approximately 150 member businesses, the group was established in 1979 to promote the reduction of accidents in the construction sector. The Group’s Executive Committee is 12-strong and comprises of industry experts in fields such as CDM, gas safety, civils, scaffolding, demolition and construction health and safety, in general.

On 03 March, Dave Burrows, Simian’s Senior Consultant/Consultancy Manager will be delivering a scaffolding industry safety update presentation, featuring all that’s new (and not so new!) in the UK scaffolding sector.

The Group meets on the first Tuesday of each month (except January and August) at Elm Bank Conference Centre, Manchester. Each meeting features an update presentation from an HSE Inspector, a Q&A session involving the subject matter experts and an opportunity for delegates to network with industry peers, to share ideas and seek solutions to the work-based challenges they are facing and two 45-minute expert talks on subjects chosen by the membership.

Member businesses range from blue-chip construction firms, safety consultancies, sole-trader businesses, fit-out contractors, M&E contractors to asbestos removal contractors, housing associations, recruitment agencies and landscapers.

Speaking of the event, Dave Burrows said: “We’re always willing to support NWCSG in their efforts. The group has gone from strength-to-strength in recent years and a short time ago was acknowledged by Safety Groups UK as being the UK’s best construction safety group.

On a personal level, I am looking forward to delivering a talk on what’s hot in the scaffolding industry, as it’s always good to share the knowledge we have with industry professionals from other specialist trades. I know from my own experience, NWCSG meetings are a fantastic way of maintaining CPD and hopefully, my talk will benefit members who aren’t scaffolding specialists, but wish to increase their understanding of a subject that’s relevant on most UK construction sites.”

NWCSG offers membership at just £60 per year and this entitles members to attend NWCSG meetings. Those wishing to attend this meeting or considering joining the group, should contact Claire Oakes, via info@nwcsg.org.uk.
