Simian speaks on working at height at Health and Safety North

Dave Randles CMIOSH, our UK Operations Director, recently attended the Health & Safety North 2018 event on the 8th and 9th October, an event that brings together health and safety practitioners from across Northern England.

Held at EventCity in Manchester, the event provided the opportunity for those in the industry to network, attend informative seminars and procure services from exhibitors. With over 2000 visitors at the event it was a fantastic opportunity for Simian to meet and network with industry peers.
However, we were also privileged to have the opportunity to support one of the event’s many safety dialogue sessions, providing our expert insight into working at height and preventing falls, alongside a number of other industry experts.
Along with representatives from PASMA, NASC and several expert private businesses, Dave was appointed as a panel member to answer questions from delegates on a whole host of scaffolding and work at height matters , including:
- Procedures used when working at height
- PPE and other equipment used to prevent injuries from falls
- Establishing work at height rescue plans
- Training for work at height
Speaking after the event, Dave said, “Health and Safety North has grown to be one of the biggest and most reputable health and safety exhibitions in the UK and we’re delighted that we were chosen as scaffolding experts for the event. It’s always interesting to hear the thoughts of non-scaffolders and to get a take on their view of the way the scaffolding industry operates.”
