Simian plays host to Merseyside branch of IOSH

30th March 2017

Earlier this month we hosted an event for the Merseyside branch of The Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) at our headquarters in Warrington.

IOSH is a registered charity and the world’s largest, professional health and safety organisation and has more than 44,000 members in over 120 countries.

Their vision for, “A world of work which is safe, healthy and sustainable” is one which Simian shares so it was a pleasure to hold the recent Merseyside branch meeting and show those who came along how we are working to improve health and safety standards in the scaffolding and work at height sectors.

The event was well attended by IOSH members from across the region and included a presentation from Simian’s Managing Director, Simon Hughes, on all the latest scaffolding health and safety guidance including SG4:15, TG20:13 and the Scaffolders CPD scheme. Attendees were also given a practical demonstration on current industry techniques including suspended casualty rescue, advanced guardrail systems and the short-lift system of fall protection.

Speaking after the event, Simon said, “As a Chartered Member of IOSH myself, it was great to get the opportunity to network with my professional peers. Very often we deal with scaffolding industry professionals, so the opportunity of catching up with other Safety Professionals from a whole host of different industry sectors is one I always look to take.

We’re always open to hosting industry educational events and it’s extremely satisfying when they’re as well received as this one.”
