SIMIAN Launches New Scaffolding Training Centre in Anglesey
27th February 2021
Despite the challenges that lockdown has presented for our training centres, we are very proud to announce that we are once again expanding our training offering with a new centre in Anglesey.
The £2.1 million facility at Busnes@LlandrilloMenai’s Centre for Infrastructure, Skills and Technology (CIST) will open in March.
Opening a new centre in North Wales has been a goal for the SIMIAN team for some time now, as it will ultimately mean that North Walians will no longer have to travel outside of Wales to other centres in the North of England or the Midlands.
CIST offers a variety of accredited training partnerships with companies in a range of specialisms, including site management and heavy plant training, and we are very excited to be joining these prestigious businesses in providing our own accredited scaffolding training
The new scaffolding centre will ultimately support the North Wales Growth Deal, which sees plans for 14 projects across the region, creating over 5,000 jobs. Enabling scaffolding businesses to choose a centre much closer to home, means that local skills can be utilised on these large infrastructure projects and increasing demand for qualified, trained scaffolders can be met.
Director of Policy at CITB, Steve Radley, has said of the new centres:
“We’re confident that training centres like this one, coupled with our plans for further investment in Wales, will contribute to a thriving construction sector in the country.”
Dave Randles, Operations Director at SIMIAN, has said:
“The Anglesey Centre has been the offing for quite some time now and we are delighted to finally be able to extend the geographical spread of scaffolding training. As with our other centres, we are also looking to extend our portfolio to meet training shortages for other trades and we hope to be able to provide more news on that very soon.”
