SIMIAN Delivers Scaffolding Workshop at LASC
26th July 2022
The team at SIMIAN recently welcomed students from the Beacon Business Innovation Hub in Ilford to our London Academy for Sustainable Construction (LASC) to take part in our scaffolding workshop.
Aimed at students in years 9, 10 and 11 with an interest in pursuing a career in scaffolding, the three-hour workshop provided attendees with an in-depth look into the world of scaffolding and even a taster of what the job could involve.
Following a briefing and risk assessment, students took part in their first practical session on building Tube and Fitting and System towers before breaking for lunch. They then went onto our ever-popular VR demo and practical, which allows students to gain real insight into what working on top of a scaffolding can feel like.
This is a real test of a student’s ability to work at height as they truly feel as though they are up high, a safe insight into whether this is the career for them!
The session was a huge success amongst attendees. Ashleigh Griffiths, Careers Coordinator at the Beacon Business Innovation Hub said of the session:
“I would just like to say thank you for last week. The workshop was such a great experience for our students and was excellently delivered.
Neil and Abu were both extremely welcoming and helpful, so I would be grateful if you could pass on our gratitude.”
BDM at our LASC centre, Sara Calvo, is now working alongside the Beacon Business Innovation Hub to schedule more workshops for the coming academic year.
