Scaffolder CPD courses now available at our London and Midlands centres
3rd April 2019
We are delighted to announce that our Midlands Centre in Brierley Hill now has the capability to deliver CISRS Scaffolder Refresher CPD courses, and these are currently scheduled as far ahead as August. This means that we now offer CPD courses at three locations, Warrington, Leytonstone (London) and the Midlands.
Our Leytonstone centre, operated in partnership with the OFSTED outstanding-rated Dudley College of Technology (DCoT) and the London Borough of Waltham Forest Council, plays host to a variety of expert training courses, including all CISRS Scaffolding courses (Advanced from May 2019) , as well as Site Safety+ and Pre-employment training.
The Midlands centre, based at the Waterfront Business Centre in Brierley Hill, and also operated in Partnership with DCoT, has previously hosted CISRS COTS and CISRS Basic Scaffold Inspection Courses and was today given the go ahead to expand its portfolio of CISRS courses.
Speaking of the new availability of CPD courses, Dave Randles, SIMIAN’s Operations Director, said:
“The addition of Scaffolder Refresher courses to our Midlands CISRS portfolio offering is fantastic news for both SIMIAN and the Midlands scaffolding industry, generally. CPD courses are in high demand, so this is a boost for Scaffolders operating in and around the Midlands and means that they now have additional local choices for these courses. Our new centre in Weston-Super-Mare is scheduled to open in early May and will be offering an even larger range of CISRS training, right through from COTS to Advanced Scaffolder courses. We’re delighted to be playing a part in addressing the needs of the scaffolding industry”.
What are CPD courses?
Introduced on 1st July 2017, the CISRS CPD scheme was created for Scaffolders as a mandatory training requirement in order for CISRS card renewal and they carry a five-year lifecycle.
The two-day scaffolder CPD course is designed to refresh a Scaffolder’s knowledge on scaffolding safety best practice, cover any new legislation or working practices that have been updated, and to ultimately align a Scaffolder’s skill set with current CISRS courses. CPD courses can be attended up to six months in advance of a card’s expiry date, so that Scaffolders can plan in advance for their card renewal.
SIMIAN’s UK Operations Manager, Susan Russell, said: “Scaffolder CPD is an essential component in ensuring that Scaffolders maintain a currency of knowledge throughout their career. We are delighted to increase our offering at our new centres, and also to provide additional availability at our Warrington and Waltham Forest Centres. We have also added weekend dates for CPD, to meet customer demand and we will continually monitor our delivery capacity to ensure that this remains the case.”
