Safe Scaffolding Charter launched by NASC
28th September 2019
NASC, the trade body for access and scaffolding in the UK, has recently launched a Safe Scaffolding Charter.
The Charter has been launched to recognise businesses in the construction industry who demonstrate their commitment to high standards and health and safety in the scaffolding industry through seeking to work exclusively with NASC members.
Businesses are invited to sign the Charter if they are eligible. Eligibility is based on either pledging to specify NASC only on their scaffolding related tender documents, or already have an established commercial relationship with a full NASC member or members and have been using their services for at least a year.
For companies sourcing scaffolding work, the benefits of using NASC members are clear. All full NASC members are audited annually to ensure the highest standards are met. Their workers will be highly trained and registered with CISRS and they must have been trading for at least two years prior to applying for membership. They must also directly employ a minimum of 75% of their operatives.
The Charter only launched last month but already has a number of high-profile signatories.
Scaffolding businesses considering making an NASC membership application are free to contact us for support and advice. We have many years’ experience of helping clients to meet the required operational, safety and administrative standards demanded by NASC. Our support typically starts with a benchmarking audit and includes ongoing audit and training to ensure that the required standards are achieved and maintained.
