Restrictions Are Lifting: How will SIMIAN Training Courses be Impacted?

5th August 2021

We’ve reached the point we have all hoped for over the past 18 months, as the majority of restrictions on our day-to-day lives have lifted and we are able to return to some form of normality.

Despite the easing of restrictions, caution is very much still advised, and that is the philosophy being adopted for all of Simian’s operations. COVID-19 is still in circulation within our communities, and therefore doing our part to continue to slow the spread is essential – not least to ensure that we remain operational and that we avoid the closures that have impacted us in the recent past .

Simian has followed Government advice over the past 18 months, and we will continue to do so. For those attending our training courses, this means that they will still be required to follow some COVID security measures, including entry temperature monitoring and periodic LFT testing. Face coverings are not currently mandated, but delegates are free to wear them should they choose to do so.

Lifting of COVID-19 restrictions

The removal of legal restrictions on the wearing of face coverings and social distancing has been the subject of much debate over the past few months, particularly with regards to the scaffolding and construction industry, where close contact with team members is often necessary. Lawrence Waterman, chairman of the British Safety Council has said of the removal of restrictions:

“To go from the controls put in place for the last 15 months to nothing overnight is a significant risk and particularly to UK workers. While we would all like to believe that everyone will act responsibly, experience shows us this is not guaranteed.”

Speaking of the measures SIMIAN will continue to have in place at our centres, Operations Director, Dave Randles, has said:

“Following Government advice and guidance is a strategy that has generally served us well throughout the pandemic, and so that is something that we will continue to do. We fully appreciate that many are growing tired of the impact that Coronavirus has had on our daily lives, but it is imperative that we protect customers and staff as much as we can, and that the business remains fully operational. For this reason, we will continue to act responsibly for as long as it takes.”
