CITB receives government support
26th July 2017
Following the introduction of the apprenticeship levy earlier this year, there was widespread speculation about the future of the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB).
It has been announced in the past few weeks that the Government’s review of the CITB has been delayed. The review, which was due to be published this Spring, was delayed because of the snap general election, is now expected to be completed in the Autumn.
Ms Milton’s letter also acknowledged concerns across the industry about the “effectiveness, efficiency and responsiveness of the CITB” as well as concerns that some businesses undoubtedly have over paying the construction levy as well as the new apprenticeship levy.
Until the final report is published we won’t know exactly what the Government’s plans for the CITB entail and how the current plans for reform will be implemented. However, this recent letter which shows support for the continuation of the CITB has been broadly welcomed by the construction industry.
