Bus Crashes Into Scaffolding
8th February 2022
A bus crash into scaffolding led to heavy traffic in mid-January.
The incident occurred on a busy A road in Shoreham-by-Sea and saw the bus collide with the scaffolding, which led to the road becoming partially blocked, and emergency services later confirmed that there were no injuries.
There has been no further information on how the incident occurred, but an investigation is likely now underway to determine the exact cause.
Incidents such as this highlight the importance of adequate planning and adherence to the Local Authority’s highways licensing regime. Accidents involving vehicles and scaffolding are an all-too-often occurrence on UK roads, and whilst often they are sometimes caused by driver error or lack of awareness, it is a simple fact that many scaffolds built in busy areas are not afforded the appropriate levels of planning or protection.
