Find out more about the newest addition to the SIMIAN team, as we welcome Ian Harris as Customer Relationship Director. Ian joined us at the start of November, and brings with him a wealth of customer interaction experience.
Could you please tell us about your past work experience?
I have worked across a wide variety of industries in Project management and sales/marketing roles from the UK to Australia over many years.
Can you describe a typical day at Simian?
I find a typical day in SIMIAN as one of learning new things every day. With fantastic, supportive staff always on hand to assist in making things better and improving our processes day by day.
Is there one aspect of your work in particular that you most enjoy?
Meeting new people, creating strong and long lasting relationships for the betterment of our business and our Clients
What advice would you give those considering a career in the construction industry?
I started out as an Apprentice Mechanical fitter which gave me a great foundation for my future opening up to a very enjoyable career within Engineering and Construction. My advice would be to combine vocational training (on the job) in conjunction with the classroom, work hard and you will get your rewards.
In your opinion, what is the most important piece of guidance you give youngsters making their way in the industry?
Work hard, listen to those who ‘have been there’ and enjoy the journey.
Before working at Simian, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
Training 15 local Indian trainees in the use of Primavera 6 who were located on the North West coast of India. (Gujarat)
What would be your dream job?
Being a professional footballer where you can play football all week and get paid for it!
If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I would love to visit the Antarctica

Not really, but have starred in a promotional video for a leading construction company in Australia.
