Claire Oakes Joins Simian

22nd March 2021

In another move to get the industry tom-toms beating, we thought now the best time to announce that Claire Oakes will be joining our team in early April, in the role of Consultancy Manager. We’re not allowed to talk about Claire’s age (she has very recently had her first COVID jab – take from that what you will!), but we can say that we’re genuinely excited for Claire to be joining us.

Claire, a Chartered Fellow of IOSH, is a renowned and very well reputed construction Health & Safety Professional, who has held various Managerial and Director roles during her career, and she will be responsible for overseeing the consultancy arm of the business, as we seek to expand and diversify the range of support we currently provide.

Most recently, Claire has been running ‘OAKESafe’, her own consultancy business, and the agreement between the respective businesses is that Claire will continue to look after her existing clients’ needs, under the SIMIAN banner.

Dave Randles, Operations Director at SIMIAN said, “Claire’s appointment has been quite a while in the making, and we’re all thrilled to share the fact that she’s joining us. I’ve known Claire for many years and she was the first female construction H&S Professional I met. The intervening years have shown that she’s made an excellent job of commanding respect in what was always a male-dominated industry. That is far less the case now than it was then, and women like Claire have certainly paved the way for the increasing number of women working in the industry.

There’s no doubt that Claire’s appointment is great news for both existing and new customers, and we can’t wait for her to get started!”

Claire said, “I have always admired Simian and I have known the team there for many years. We have worked together on lots of different projects and their specialist scaffolding knowledge is always something I have found to be an excellent source of support. I can’t wait to get cracking and to help with the broadening of the services they provide and to get out and start meeting customers.

I can’t say that I share the same level of scaffolding expertise that the team has currently, but I am sure that my own experiences will add strength to the team, and the ability to provide even more support to a growing customer base.”

Whether you’re a scaffolding business or a construction business, Simian’s growing portfolio of consultancy support services can be tailored to meet your needs. Get in touch today, via hello@simian-risk.com or on 0345 602 2418.
