After four years as a site engineer with Balfour Beatty, Amy decided to attend SIMIAN’s Basic Scaffold Inspection (BSI) course at Warrington.
After four years as a site engineer with Balfour Beatty, Amy was ready to take her knowledge to the next step. While her experience had given her a strong understanding of construction, she recognised that scaffolding was an area where her knowledge could be further developed. As she worked alongside scaffolding professionals on various projects, she wanted to be able to question and challenge them with confidence. That’s when Amy decided to attend SIMIAN’s Basic Scaffold Inspection (BSI) course at our Warrington centre.
Amy’s goal was clear: to enhance her skills in scaffold inspection, ensuring she could confidently assess the safety and quality of scaffolding structures on her projects. With scaffolding being a critical part of many construction sites, knowing how to inspect and evaluate its integrity would enable her to bring even more value to her role.
Reflecting on her experience, Amy said:
“I had a very good experience attending the BSI course at SIMIAN. You can see the passion and knowledge of the trainers, sharing relevant and up-to-date information.”
The course provided Amy with the practical and theoretical knowledge she needed to progress in the industry. Covering everything from legal regulations and standards to the hands-on identification of scaffolding defects, the training gave her the confidence to carry out inspections with a keen eye for detail. She particularly liked the real-life examples and scenarios presented by SIMIAN’s expert trainers, who brought years of experience from the scaffolding industry to the classroom.
Amy explained how this newfound knowledge would impact her daily role: “I feel better equipped to question and challenge experts in scaffolding now, which is vital when ensuring safety on-site. What I’ve learned at SIMIAN has given me the tools to spot issues before they become problems, and I can confidently engage with scaffolders to ensure things are done right.”
By completing the Basic Scaffold Inspection course, she not only strengthened her knowledge but also gained the confidence to apply it in the real world.
