Could you please tell us about your past work experience?

I worked in scaffolding for the last 20 years, from yard operative to site foreman

Can you describe a typical day at Simian?

At the moment I’m shadowing some courses to learn how to deliver them.

Is there one aspect of your work in particular that you most enjoy?

The practical side where you’re teaching the students how to build scaffolding.

What advice would you give those considering a career in the construction industry?

Give it a go. It’s a very rewarding job.

In your opinion, what is the most important piece of guidance you give youngsters making their way in the industry?

Listen and take it in and get involved.

Before working at Simian, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

Nothing interesting, I worked in retail from leaving school.

What would be your dream job?

At the moment, running a bed and breakfast in Somerset. But this changes all the time.

If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I’d like to travel many parts of Asia.

Favourite film?

White men can’t jump.

Favourite food?

Fried chicken wings.

Have you ever had your 15 minutes of fame?

Still waiting for that one.
