SIMIAN’s involvement

Skill Scaffolding benefits from a retained service with SIMIAN. They use SIMIAN regularly for their independent scaffolding inspections and they also use SIMIAN for advice and support with their annual RISQS audit.

Training

SIMIAN recently delivered a harness inspection course for the management team at Skill Scaffolding.

SIMIAN have their own training centre but are also able to offer training on-site and in locations to suit the client. On this occassion the SIMIAN instructor delivered the training in Southampton at Skill Scaffolding’s base as this was convenient and minimised any disruption to their management team.
Inspections

SIMIAN carries out independent scaffolding inspections on a monthly basis on Skill Scaffolding's live projects.

Projects are usually in the South of England, predominantly around Southampton and the South coast. As the largest scaffolding company in the area, the majority of the projects they work on are significant commercial developments for major developers.
Consultancy

Skill Scaffolding use SIMIAN each year to support them with renewing their RISQS accreditation. RISQS - the Railway Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme accreditation is a pre-requisite for companies wishing to carry out work on the London Underground or within Network Rail’s controlled infrastructure.

Maintaining their RISQS accreditation is important as it enables Skill Scaffolding to continue to secure work on the UK’s rail networks.

Why do you use SIMIAN?

When it comes to health and safety within our industry they really are the most knowledgeable in the trade. We’ve used SIMIAN for six or seven years now and will continue to use them in the future as working with them works really well. They are professional and approachable; they have an extremely good image and reputation.

Can you give an example of a time they have helped your business?

When it comes to completing our annual RISQS audit their help makes the whole process smoother. Every year one of the SIMIAN team comes down to our offices to work on the audit with us. The staff at SIMIAN know and understand every aspect of the audit and are able to guide us through what is a rigorous process. From a business perspective RISQS accreditation is crucial as without it we wouldn’t be in position to work anywhere within Network Rail’s controlled infrastructure. The accreditation opens doors to numerous contracts and lets buyers know that we meet the required industry standards.

We have a really good working relationship with SIMIAN, they are on the ball and always have the answers. As well as being genuinely great to work with they have extensive expertise, are reliable and are always available when we need them. I know that even though they are busy I can call them anytime.
